Geocaching in Salado Texas

Evan and I did a short road trip with our friends Dan and Meredith to go to a beer and wine festival in Salado, TX. It was a super last minute and laid back trip, with one full day spent relaxing outside enjoying the beverages.

At some point, I pulled up my geocaching app and we all got a kick out of the name of this cache nearby: MM - St. Andrew's Wee Wall. This became a goal find for the trip, and we were able to easily find this one with our friends.

Geocaching at EPCOT

I know, it's hard for some to believe, but this was my first trip to Disney! I'd been resisting for years, but then my friends saw that my favorite band was playing in EPCOT, so I finally caved and we booked a trip!

Before I get to the geocache, I also got to meet Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, and that was super fun. My fave Disney movie is Tangled, and this was a super fun part of the trip.

The cache was a virtual cache, but still quite fun to participate in: EPCOT.

So, a co-worker was looking for a hobby in Waco

Today, I went to a lunch with a couple of co-workers since once of those co-workers will start working remotely in Waco next week and we won't see him so much. We were talking about things to do in Waco, and hubby and I thought this would be a good time to introduce him to geocaching. I opened the app on my phone, and sure enough, there is a cache less than 300 feet away, so we decide to walk there after we finish eating. What a pleasant surprise, and now I think he may be hooked. We'll see the next time I go to Waco.

Sunday cachers

To say that I'm behind on my goals for the year is an understatement. But, I am getting there, and this weekend was a good start on playing catch up.

We started by performing maintenance on one of my caches. I hopped over to check and found it in a few minutes. Not exactly where I placed it, but looks like there were some changes in the trees and it is going to stay in its new home.

Next, we headed east quite a ways to find a few in the Math School series. But...I left the GPS at home and my phone wasn't cooperating at this point, so we didn't have too much luck. Out of the three we looked for, we found one before deciding to come back another day with the GPS.

Since we had plans to go caching with Dan in the afternoon, we made a leisurely drive towards home and cached along the way. Several PNGs, some of them were quite interesting.

After catching up with Dan, we found some caches along a very nice park in Addison. This is going to become a good place for me to get my walking in. Plus, there is a community garden, and I found the environment very pleasant.

All in all, found 11 on Sunday, and though I wish that were a higher number, I'm happy to at least be that much further along.

Some of the more fun ones on Sunday:
Over and Out at CBC - AWESOME!
Haunted Series - Herman's Sporting Goods - the story is interesting and I may do this whole series soon.
Math School - Algebra I - only four more left to find in this series!
Yaupon Railroad - nice location.

Hid my first night cache

So, I placed my first night cache yesterday with Evan and Dan. Was an interesting adventure, cannot wait for it to be published!

Started out by scouting out a place during the day. Had good parking, a fun bridge, and a creek. Brought along the reflectors, tape, and flash lights. Marked the trail, hid the cache, and backtracked. This should be a fun one.

When the cache is published, check it out at:
